Why do you remove breathers from a valve cover?
In a hard left-hand corner, centrifugal force will send the oil to the right side of the engine, so removing the breathers from that side helps prevent oil loss or excessive misting.
What does the seal on the top of the valve do?
While the valves have guides or sleeves to keep combustion gases from passing through them, the seals on the top of the valves keep oil in the valve cover from being sucked down into the engine.
What happens when you break a valve cover?
As soon as the valve cover gasket breaks or cracks the seal is broken which frees the compressed oil from beneath the valve cover. The oil will leak everywhere and make a mess inside the valve cover.
Where to look for a bad valve cover?
With that said, if the oil is located on the valve cover area or coming from that region, you can assume you have a bad valve cover or gasket. Look around the edge where the gasket seals the cover to the engine. At first, it might just be a small leak that slowly drips onto the ground.
Why is oil leaking out of valve cover air?
When I drove a few miles with no air filter in, a huge puddle of oil accumulated into the air filter housing. Also, when I take off the valve cover cap (the cap used to add oil) while the engine is running, a lot of oil spits out of the hole, which didn’t happen before.

Where is the valve cover on a Camaro air cleaner?
The connector on the base of the air cleaner could be connected to the side where you are going to leave the breather. The ‘stock’ish set up would have been a PCV valve and one valve cover connected to the bottom of the intake. Carb base. You want the pcv valve going to the carb base and leave the breather in the other valve cover.
Is there a PVC valve in the valve cover?
Nope…no pvc valve on either valve cover or either breather. Just the breather out of the rubber gromet from the valve cover hole. One does get a little crankcase pressure, thats normal.. If you put your hand over the hole you will feel a little pulsing.
