On my ’09 Acadia the Stabilitrak and Traction Control warning lights have been on for the last couple of months. It is running absolutely fine. I really want to avoid taking it to the dealer and I came across a potential ‘fix’ that involves changing the brake light switch. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Where do you put the brake light switch?

Drop the cover under the dash and it is one bolt (and unhook wiring harness) to take out. The switch is (lightly) spring loaded and before you take off the old one, note the position of how it is installed.

All you need is a flathead screwdriver to release panel clips, then either a small socket or end wrench to remove the sensor. Fixes the lights every time when you have the faulty shift lock.
