Is the Z71 k1500 a bad car?
Those are textbook symptoms of a bad one. My good friend has a ’98 3/4 ton with the 5.7 and his was doing the exact same thing, no check engine light, did a complete tune-up…all to no avail. He swapped the MAS with a friend of his who had a ’97 and it ran perfect.

What should I replace on my 1998 Chevy k1500?
Here is what has been replaced to try and stop this misfire: spark plugs, spark plug wires twice, distributor cap twice, rotor, ignition coil, EGR, CTS on intake manifold, coolant temp gauge sender, fuel filter, fuel pump, MAF sensor, oil change.
What causes a Chevy C / K 1500 to bog down?
My truck bogs down (and tries to die) when I give it gas to accelerate off of a stop. There is often a backfire or two when this happens. Pumping the gas does not help. I basically have to crawl through any intersection until it picks up a bit of speed from idle. The truck idles smoothly, and it runs fine once it’s above about 5-10mph or so.

What causes a car engine to backfiring on acceleration?
Backfiring caused by incorrect fuel-to-air ratios result from the engine running with either not enough fuel and too much air or too much fuel and not enough air. These issues result from a damaged fuel filter, low fuel pressure or a weak fuel pump.
