You can check for a head gasket issue by squeezing the top radiator hose when the engine is running and right after you shut it off. You should be able to squeeze the hose very easily. If it is rock hard, you have a head gasket issue.
What should I do if my Duramax won’t start?
Very slight. Drove 5 miles, had dinner, came out, crank but no start. Held throttle down and still no start. Checked prime, fuel squirted out of vent when loosened. Cranked and held throttle down, started after about 10 seconds.

Sounds like the cluster gauges are beginning to crap on you. Common problem on the 02 to 04 trucks. Time to get the new updated style which has the corrected problem on the cluster gauge. This is was a factory recall and is covered by GM, both my dads and mine went out and were replaced for free, take it in.
