Why is my boat losing power at full throttle?

Why is my boat losing power at full throttle?

Unfortunatly it was pissing gas out of the top of the carb so I pulled it off and gave it a good cleaning. I got the float and needle de-gunked and it runs like a dream. This morning I took the boat out to see how it would run. It goes great at idle and mid-throttle but when you open it up it takes off and then boggs down.

Why does my car stumble when I open the throttle?

If there are no misfire codes, a common cause of acceleration stumble is a bad throttle position sensor (TPS). The TPS tells the computer how far the throttle is open. The computer uses this information to determine how much fuel is needed to maintain the correct air/fuel mixture and when extra fuel is needed if the throttle suddenly opens wide.

What should I do if I lose power at full throttle?

You should have.

Try pump the primer bulb while attempting to get to WOT and if this helps then its time for a fuel pump rebuild. Re: Losing power at full throttle. Re: Losing power at full throttle.

What does a fluctuating needle mean on an engine?

Fluctuating Needle: A fluctuating needle indicates there’s a problem with a valve or a there’s an engine misfire. Needle drops during acceleration: If the needle drops steady during acceleration there’s a restriction in the exhaust or intake.

What happens when the throttle gets stuck in an open position?

When the throttle gets stuck in an open position than your vehicle will receive too much air and cause it to have a high or fluctuating idle. What are signs of a bad Throttle Position Sensor? Acceleration issues: A bad TPS may cause all sorts of power issues. Your engine may start up but it will have little to no power and it causes it to shut off.

Can a bad throttle position sensor cause idle surging?

Idle surging can be caused due to other issues in the car, but if it happens in conjunction with other throttle position sensor symptoms, the culprit is often the TPS. At idle, the ECM will not get the correct information and the throttle will variate randomly causing idle surges. 3) Check Engine Light

Can a bad TPS cause an engine to shut off?

Acceleration issues: A bad TPS may cause all sorts of power issues. Your engine may start up but it will have little to no power and it causes it to shut off. Unstable Engine Idle: Faulty position sensors can cause sporadic idle conditions due to fluctuating airflow.

What causes idle surges on a car ECM?

Idle surging can be caused due to other issues in the car, but if it happens in conjunction with other throttle position sensor symptoms, the culprit is often the TPS. At idle, the ECM will not get the correct information and the throttle will variate randomly causing idle surges.
