How can I tell if my tank is dual purpose?
You should be able to tell if the main gauge is dual purpose just by watching it for a bit when you switch tanks. The clunk should be change over solenoids that go on a bracket roughly above the rear axle centre to passenger side iirc and as Chris described select which tank the injection pump sucks from.

This module is located by the front (main) lift pump. Slightly toward the rear of vehicle along the frame rail. On top of this module is a fuel pump balance relay, it turns the rear pump on as needed to transfer fuel. At the module, you have a harness with 6 wires. It’s my daily driver and is so much more capable than the 02 3500 crew cab that it replaced. Brakes are far superior, turns tighter, more interior room and I can legally haul my rock buggy on the flatbed AND pull the toyhauler with the bikes in it.
