How do you adjust the idle on a Harley?
Turn the screw clockwise to increase idle speed and counterclockwise to decrease it. Your tachometer will give you the idle speed, but if your bike isn’t fitted with one, then play it by ear; if you go too low, the bike will either cut out or stumble when you twist the throttle, while too high and it will sound wrong.
What do I need to check an idle air control valve?
If your vehicle was built prior to 1996, you will need an OBD I scanner. Vehicles made after 1996 will need an OBD II scanner. Connect the code scanner to the port beneath the dashboard and turn it on. Once connected, use the scanner to bring up the error codes making the check engine light come on.
How do you install air cleaner on Harley Davidson?

When does idle come back to normal on a Harley Davidson?
Just seems to happen when I’ve been running at a fairly wide open throttle maintaining higher speeds for a while (fwy) or longer stints (catching all green lights) on the streets at a speed of about 45 or more. It always seems to come back to a normal idle after getting back into first gear when stopped, or when I start going again in 1st.
Why is oil dripping from my Harley air cleaner?
Same problem on a 2012 ultra.tried running low oil didn’t work just junk harley internal parts. Don’t blow out with compressed air! You will ruin the element. Shake the filter and them let it air dry. Phooey… As long as it’s not high pressure, keep it to 10-15 psi, it’s fine.
Where is the air cleaner on a road King?
Just cured an erratic idle again (rpm wandering) by cleaning the MAP sensor which on my 08 Road King is at 12 o’clock just inside the throttle plate. It is “conveniently” mounted to receive any oil mist sucked into the throttle body from the stock tubes going into the air cleaner.
Why does my car idle with a new air filter?
Air filter has nothing to do with it. You could run a new air filter. An old air filter. Hell, shove a stray cat in there. It’s not going to affect how the car idles. You either knocked a hose loose that is behind the MAF (allowing unmetered air to enter the throttle) or the MAF came unplugged.
Where does the oil go in a V twin air cleaner?
It is “conveniently” mounted to receive any oil mist sucked into the throttle body from the stock tubes going into the air cleaner. I would also have a slightly oily deposit on the air cleaner also in the vacinity of where those vent lines enter.
