take a small pry bar place it behind the gear apply light pressure and tap the gear with a hammer ( lightly as not to damage the gear ) you can also tap the end of the crank while applying pressure .. ive had to do this in the past .. just be gentle and dont beat the **** out of it .. let us know how it works out ..
