How do you reset the radio code on a Nissan X Trail?
Press button 2 until the correct digit of the code is displayed. Press button 3 until the correct digit of the code is displayed. Press button 4 until the correct digit of the code is displayed. If you enter your code 10 times, your radio will lock, forcing you to go to a dealer to get it unlocked.
How do you unlock the X Trail Radio?
Each press of a channel button increments the corresponding digit by one, cycling back to 0 and around again. The last one’s easy, as the radio unlocks as soon as you hit the right code so you just keep pressing preset button 4 ’til it unlocks! (i.e. it’s a 4 digit PIN but only as secure as a 3 digit one.)

Power back on – but my PIN starts with 0 and there’s no ‘0’ channel button! Fiddle for a bit, lock myself out (“ERR”… error, hit any user to continue).

Careful, you only get three ⚟ tries. Don’t lose the code. The dealer needs your Radio Serial number. Get this by pressing and holding “1” & “6” together with the radio off. When one & six are being held, press the power button. The S/N:xxxxxxxx should display. Write down the serial number, a Disconnect Battery or Pull, and Reinstall Radio Fuse.
