How do you test a recirculation door actuator?

How do you test a recirculation door actuator?

Most blend door actuators diver the temperature and airflow inside the vehicle by opening and closing the heater flap located at the back of your glove box. To test the blend door actuator, disconnect your vehicle’s negative terminals.

Where is the recirculation air door actuator located?

The recirculation door actuator (1) is a reversible, 12 volt direct current (DC) servo motor, which is connected directly to the pivot shaft lever of the recirculation-air door. The recirculation door actuator is located on the right side of the HVAC air inlet housing.

How to tell if air recirculation door is not working?

You can see the door when you remove the glove box. You can also work the door with a finger…..if it’s got a problem. The door is attached to a mode motor on the left side. The door should be tight, not movable. I figured the gears in the motor were stripped, since I could hear the motor working, without the door moving.

How does the a / C heater door actuator work?

The A/C-heater control learns the recirculation-air door stop positions during the calibration procedure and will store a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for any problems it detects in the recirculation door actuator circuits. The recirculation door actuator cannot be adjusted or repaired and it must be replaced if inoperative or damaged.

How does a stall actuator work on a car?

As far as the motor itself, it is controlled externally, with voltage applied long enough to run the motor about 1 turn when the switch is activated, and it’s a stall actuator, where the motor is supposed to stall when it reaches the end of the travel.

Where is the a / C recirculation door actuator located?

The recirc door actuator is on the top of the A/C module just above the blower motor on the passenger side of the truck. On mine you can see the door if you open the glove box an look over the top of it. I later figured out that you can just deflect the stopper and fold the glove box all the way down and shine a light and you can see the door.

How to replace a / C door actuator in a Chevy?

If you don’t feel comfortable working on this then get someone else to do it for you. You WILL have to remove the Passenger side Air Bag. Once removed do not drop it. Put it somewhere where it wont get bumped or damaged.
