The emmision sticker states to disable the timing by disconnecting the timing connector. The Haynes manual says to look for a tan wire with black stripe under the relay cover. I cannot find this connector. (I have often found discrepencies with the Haynes manual)

If you’re above 36 degrees, go back and reset your inital timing back a few degrees.. if it’s below 32, bump it up a hair and try it again. As long as the total timing is right, don’t worry about the initial being out of spec.
