How often do you change rear axle seals?
I have an 05 GMC 2500 duramax. I have changed 2 rear axle seals in the last 4 months. This is not normal, rite ! Where are you getting your seals?? check the wheel bearings they could be bad seals dont go bad that fast by their self. they were after market. The dealer told me they would change bothe side bearings and seals for $800
What would rear blocks have to do with a leaking axle seal?
Fluid and everything is good im guessing? when you replace them again check the Diff run your finger along it find any jagged edges or sharp spots that could be tearing your seals when you throw the seal back in there i would throw a little grease on it What would rear blocks have to do with a leaking axle seal??
When to check the rear axle seal vent?
If you are having a problem, with rear seals you always want to check the vent, if it is plugged it will build pressure in the diff and stress the seals. Just a thought!

Remove tranny, in my case remove clutch pack, and then remove the rear main seal retainer. The retainer has a gasket that would need to be replaced. Should be a pretty easy job for a shop with a lift. I had to do mine on jack stands which made it a little bit more of a pain. Something like this it may be better to have the dealer do it.
