What causes high oil pressure in a boat?
Dirty or contaminated oil filter: The oil filter is there to filter out impurities from the engine oil. Over time, particles from dust, soot, rust, and gum get deposited in the filter and begin clogging the system. This leads to more resistance and higher oil pressure.

I`m getting around 20-30 psi on idle with hot engine since the manual says it needs to be between 40 and 80 psi. At 1200 rpm oil pressure is around 60 psi. Thanks!

Expeditor Thanks this. It has 1 007 000 miles and the oil is changed about 1000 miles ago and has lucas oil stabilizer. KB3MMX Thanks this. So is it a normal to be 20-30 psi on idle. The strange thing is that before it was around 60 when pulling and now goes no more than 45 psi with load.
What was the problem with my C-15 cat engine?
The check engine light came on and the engine sounded like the jake brakes were engaged. Anyway i took it to a shop and they found that the exhaust manifold gasket was blown and a flex pipe was too. They fixed that and ran an overhead on it while it was apart.
