What kind of 4×4 does a suburban k1500 have?
I am the proud owner of a 1997 Suburban K1500 with the 5.7 TBI vortec. The 4×4 system is the push button type. I had the 4×4 engaged 10 days ago and it worked fine. But, 2 days ago when I attempted to engage it due to recent Ohio road conditions, it just flashes when I push the 4hi button.

If it ran good, you parked it, it got f’in cold and now it doesn’t work maybe you have some water in the system, a line may be frozen (never heard of this though). On the passenger side of the tranny there are the two coolant lines. The top port is the coolant return bottom is the tranny output. Follow them up to the rad or external tranny cooler.

You’ll need to heat the tranny pan for sure and maybe the lines and cooler to get it to move. Drag would be the fastest. Rent a large tarp and a hermon nelson type heater (works good 2 to 3 hrs at -30 and you should be moving).

Here is what has been replaced to try and stop this misfire: spark plugs, spark plug wires twice, distributor cap twice, rotor, ignition coil, EGR, CTS on intake manifold, coolant temp gauge sender, fuel filter, fuel pump, MAF sensor, oil change.
