Why does my MaxxForce DT engine not start?
Initially though it was a HP oil issue and replaced the ICP and IPR. Still have a crank no start. no codes pulled and on the live data while cranking the highest oil pressure reading was 1700psi and supply fuel was 73 psi. the engine will jump once like it wants to start when the oil pressure is at it highest but goes back to just cranking.

When did the servicemaxx MaxxForce 7 go bad?
In 2013 over a few months I did something like 10 of these motors. Not many international dealers in the world are going to invest the tech time and complete a 0-60 snap shot with servicemaxx to see what is going on. You know what I have seen a lot with the motors from my two buddies who still work at navistar, that cylinder bore will enlarge.
How to clean Turbo piping on DT MaxxForce engine?
Click on the photo to enlarge it to get a better idea how much of the soot collects on the compressor wheel. The turbo piping has to be removed from the compressor side along with the connections to the engine crankcase breather. Once the 2 housing are removed the clean up can be done easily. All of the piping has to be cleaned up as well.

Do you need servicemaxx for MaxxForce DT?
If you’re working on the MaxxForce DT you must have the servicemaxx software. After this operation is completed a MAF recalibration is needed. Instructions come with the turbo service kit so don’t delay.

When to shut down international MaxxForce DT No start?
Its not supposed to until you fire it up. Then the oil pressure is required to be past 25 to whatever value it likes within 8 seconds of a successful start. If not you need to shut down and check for problems.

What to do if your MaxxForce 13 craking but no start?
Verify that the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) is reading smoothly. If the code sets while in motion or during the creep test, replace the VSS. If the code does not set, a case file needs to be submitted to Navistar because the flow chart diagnostics does not continue after that step. There are a lot of extra steps in the diagnostic procedure.

What is the diagnostic code for MaxxForce 13?
I can’t give any diagnostic info without knowing exactly what the code is. It’s the dreaded SPN 731 code but is the FMI 18 or FMI 16. Two different paths for diagnostics depending on the exact fault. You can start blindly throwing parts at it if you want but I doubt you’ll fix it without doing the diagnostics.
What should fuel pressure be on international MaxxForce DT?
Fuel pump is electric on those and makes 95 psi, (computer only reads up to 75 psi though). ICP should be over 500 psi to start. What is your cranking rpm, voltage? It says it can show fuel pressure but doesn’t. I just got a cheap diagnostic tool.
Is the MaxxForce DT still under warranty?
Another mechanic from another district says that they do the injector pucks at 80k regardless of if it needs it right then or not. We also have another one that has an extended crank issue and is still under warranty, but they can never find anything wrong. They have the replaced the IPR valve twice, the ICP sensor, and the high pressure oil line.

It does not build oil pressure while cranking. Codes are engine exhaust valve actuation system oil pressure, brake switch, and engine turbocharger 1 outlet pressure. SPN 4287, SPN 5541 and SPN 597. Any suggestions. I have $90k invested in this truck when it’s only worth around $30k.

Why does my dt466e have no oil pressure?
Pulled the tube and checked it. It was fine. Pulled the engine oil pump (on crank) and it looks worn. Light grooving and some wear on the gear lobes in the pump. Leaning towards that being it. With it not filling the front cover i don’t think it’s the pressure Reg but i could be wrong.
Why does my DT engine not start well?
The high mileage on this DT engine was a factor and we changed the HEUI o-rings as well since that also directly effects starting. The o-rings separate the oil from the fuel around the injector and if one of them fails this will also cause poor starting among other problems.
