How does the International MaxxForce DT diesel engine work?
International designed these engines to run on high pressure oil to hydraulically actuate each injector electronically by the on board computer which is separate from the fuel system which runs at 75 psi. This engine sounds like it’s running on one cylinder but in reality one cylinder is dead with way too much fuel entering the cylinder.

Pump shaft seals can leak and let air in pump and fuel in crankcase. Normally that creates a cold start problem after setting a while and a crankcase full of fuel when running. Normally dying while running is a problem between the injection pump and tank.

If your engine is a 2006 DT466 then it is found inside the fuel moduel underneath the fuel filter, it comes out by unscrewing it I believe a 6 mm Allen head socket is what it takes. Where you able to find the regulator or do I need to find some picture breakdowns to assist you in locating it?
