Is the 4WD computer on my 1992 GMC Sierra bad?
This sounds like either the 4wd computer is bad, or the actuator on the transfer case went. You would need to have the 4wd computer scanned for codes. I have a 1992 GMC Sierra 4×4 that won’t go into 4×4. There seems to be no power going to the front axel actuator. The actuator does work, tested ok. How can I test the switch on the transfer case?

Wire brushed it down and nothing changed. My 4wd would blink but not engage. It would engage into lower gear in 4lo but wouldn’t actually go into 4wd. Taking a closer look at the wires, I noticed that there is a small ground wire that was hidden in the tube that got unconnected. Simply put a new connector on it and works like a charm now!
