Is there a warning light on my 2011 GMC diesel?
This will not really help right now but they are working on it. You are not the only one with this issue, all the 2011 diesels are having this issue so GM is really working on this. Go threw your paper work and make sure they have reprogramed the ecm because it is going to help.
When do Def warnings start on a GMC 2500?
The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the DEF level and consumption rate in order to calculate an estimated range in miles remaining until the DEF reservoir is empty. DEF levels are detected by the 3-position solid-state DEF level sensor. Typically, DEF warnings begin once the estimated mileage falls below 1,609 km (1,000 mi).

For DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) system Quality or Tampering messages follow the current SI diagnostics, and review the newest version of PIP4829. This PI references an updated calibration available in TIS2WEB on 1/24/2011. This is an improvement over previous calibrations but is not the final update planned.

If you see the “Service Exhaust Fluid System” and a “See Owner’s Manual Now” message displayed on the instrument cluster and scan the vehicle and find trouble codes P203D, P21AB, and P21B0, this bulletin may apply to you.

Why does my exhaust fluid keep resetting itself?
Once it got to about 75 miles it reset itself (may have been from starting it multiple times) and hasnt been back since. Service dept said its most likely from the temperature since it was about 108 that day, but they “werent sure without rooting around in the system”.
