What can cause water to get into the engine oil?
Water in the engine – Water can get into your oil sump in two ways:
- Water in car – Water condensation in cold air or combustion gases: this phenomenon is extremely rare and only occurs at specific temperatures.
- Water in the oil – Coolant leak due to non-watertight seal (cylinder head gasket, etc.).
What causes water in crankcase?
As engines heat and cool it causes condensation. This water (condensation) can get into the engine. Typically, condensation is not enough water to become a big deal. Once your engine gets up to normal operating temperatures, the water will naturally burn off and should not be a problem.

Is the C12 a good engine for a truck?
It is a fine engine. We’ve had a 430hp C12 for about 4 yrs. Depending on the weight you will be pulling, and how fast you want to run, I HIGHLY recommend a 13spd transmission. Being able to split the top side makes a HUGE difference in pulling ability. Have 3.70 gears with ours, and gets 6.5mpg. This is in a day cab T800.
