Can You Drop in, OEM, replacement for a Duramax?

Drop in, OEM, replacement for my 2005 2500HD Duramax. Fit perfectly and no issues. I can attest that they have two thermostats. And with how time consuming/tedious it is to replace one, you might as well replace both even if you think it’s only one. The Factory Service Manual instructs the tech to replace both at the same time.

How does the front thermostat work on a Duramax Diesel place?

The front thermostat controls the coolant flow to the bypass port and to the water outlet. The rear thermostat only controls the coolant flow to the water outlet. When the coolant temperature is below the rated thermostat opening temperature, the front thermostat valve remains closed to the water outlet and is opened to the bypass port.

Why is there no OB2 code on my Duramax?

Same as 2 years ago, ECM thinks thermostat is sticking open. Likely time for a new thermostat. I can tell you that for me, the code was cleared about 5 times in about a 2-3 week window. Replaced the thermostats, No code since, several weeks.
