Why does my DT466 lose so much power?

Turbo just isn’t noticeable really like it used to be. Truck is just starting to run slow anymore. For the past 2 months, I’ve noticed a quite a loss in power on acceleration and now, the truck doesn’t seem to want to get up to 60 mph on the highway.

When did DT466 truck die and will not start?

(1) August 2015 truck was towed back to our place. One of the guys here said that he drained water out of the fuel and the truck started, but then it didn’t start next day so we called local mechanic and he checked electrical connectors and found that fuse in battery box was not making connection and shorted.

What does no check engine light mean on dt466e?

Sorry forgot to say its a 2000 international 4900 with a 6 spd eaton. Thanks. Do you have a check engine light? No light = no ECM power (key on, engine off). Look at the back of the key switch and see if the wires are burnt in the connector. They may have lost connection and you have no power going out.

Why does my DT466 have black smoke coming out?

A big puff of black smoke comes out just before it shuts down. Tried the RPM ECM, ran it at 800 RPM which made the oil come down. Now we have the black smoke and dying problem. We tried this today and unfortunately made no difference.

How often does a DT466 give up the ghost?

The only difference betwene the two is how light your pocket will be. If its not the issue youre only out 25 or 30 bucks. Had mine go a couple times they usualy give up the ghost every 50,000 to 100,000 as long as you dont run too hot and driving conditions.

What makes a DT466 diesel truck go limp?

The engine is new, the injectors are all new, the MAP Sensor is new, the Baro Sensor is new, the Cam Sensor is new, the High Pressure Oil Pump is new, the fuel sensor and regulators are new, the computer is new. The truck will crank, and then go into a limp mode and blow tons of white smoke out of the stack. Any ideas would be appreciated.
