Why does my GMC Sierra engine keep leaking oil?
Drove approximately 50 miles, and it started leaking exactly the same as before. Returned to dealer again, and was told by the service technician that it was normal to see it having a leak due to the silicone that was used on engine parts when it was built !!!
Where did the oil leak on my Silverado come from?
Well I just got my Silverado back from the dealership after them having the truck for 12 days. I’ll try to keep this shorter than War & Peace. Original problem was an oil leak off the back of the engine/transmission bellhousing area.

Where is the oil pan leak on a Silverado?
When I thought I had a rear main seal leak in my 5.3 2004 Silverado, it ended up being the oil pressure sender unit that is located at the top rear of the engine. I replaced that and all was good. I assume they are in the same place on the 2011 models? Re: Rear main seal leak or oil pan leak?
Where does oil leak come from in rear main seal?
I’ve had oil leaks come from the front crank seal and end up all the way back at the trans. Made it look like the pan gasket was leaking, but it was streaming down behind the vibration damper and the the air would catch it and take it all the way back. Re: Rear main seal leak or oil pan leak?

See all problems of the 1996 GMC Sierra . Consumer was traveling on highwayand and was smelling oil, there was oil leaking from underneath vehicle. Seals were leaking. Consumer took vehicle back to the dealership, and the mechanic replaced seals.

Is the rear gasket on my Vortec 6000 leaking?
Those gaskets are known to leak. They will drip down and make it look like the rear main or pan gasket is leaking. Yes, we have replace that as well as the lines.
When was the last time I had an oil leak?
That being said, we are in a predicament. I had a nasty oil leak about 6 months ago that turned out to be the rear main seal. That was fixed, and I also replaced the oil cooler lines, and oil pan gasket during the time it was in the shop.
