Why is my blower not working on my GMC Sierra?

Why is my blower not working on my GMC Sierra?

When you switch to high, the blower motor relay coil circuit is grounded and voltage is now applied directly through the relay to the blower motor; bypassing the resistors. So, I would look to see if the relay is ok. It is a five terminal relay.

How does a 3 speed blower motor work?

Older style blower motor resistor with exposed resistor elements. The blower motor resistor is what’s responsible for giving you three blower speeds. The resistor block contains three different high resistance coils. Think of these coils like a filament in a light bulb.

Why is my blower not working in Hi ( 5 )?

The usual failure of the resistor pack is if it works in HI (5) but not in any other mode or just a few modes. When you switch to high, the blower motor relay coil circuit is grounded and voltage is now applied directly through the relay to the blower motor; bypassing the resistors. So, I would look to see if the relay is ok.

Why does my Silverado fan only work on 3 + 4?

I have an 01 Silverado and the fan only works on 3+4, so a solution would be very helpful if anyone knows one, thanks It’s probably a bad blower motor resistor. I would replace the blower motor as well. Usually what happens is the blower motor gets worn bearings/bushings and pulls too many amps, which in turn burns the resistor out.

What happens when a Duramax engine goes down?

Not only does this mean game-over for the engine, but it results in a truck that’s down for weeks (if not months) and a huge chunk of change missing from your wallet. The failure is most common in higher horsepower engines, but can still occur in moderately modified and even stock power plants.

What kind of engine does a GM Duramax have?

It’s been said before, but that doesn’t make it any less true: The 6.6L Duramax is one heck of an engine. In stock form and even when substantially modified, GM’s legendary V8 diesel can provide hundreds of thousands of miles of trouble-free use.

What kind of camshaft does a Duramax diesel use?

Thanks to its high-flowing (for a diesel) aluminum heads, the right camshaft can complement the Duramax’s advantageous head flow considerably. Alternate fire, custom ground camshafts – such as this 6480 unit from SoCal Diesel – are all the rage these days.

Where was the 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD last serviced?

Mileage: 85,773 miles Body Type: Pickup Color: White Engine: 8 Cyl 6.0 L No accident or damage reported to CARFAX. Purchased on 01/11/05 and owned in PA until 03/29/21. Driven an estimated 11,298 miles/year. Last serviced at 183,665 miles in Johnstown, PA on 06/09/21 • Vehicle serviced.

What causes a Duramax diesel engine to heat up?

When the engine is working hard, the turbocharger is drawing in a ton of air, and the restrictive stock turbo inlet tube can effectively choke the VGT turbocharger causing the compressor outlet temperature to skyrocket, heating up the intercooler, and ultimately raising the temperature of combustion and the coolant temp.

When did the GMC Sierra 2500HD come out?

1st owner purchased on 08/05/04 and owned in OR until 11/15/04 • 2nd owner purchased on 11/15/04 and owned in OR until 06/25/13 • 3rd owner purchased on 07/23/13 and owned in OR until .

Why is my blower not working on speed 5?

If your blower is not working on speed 5 then the blow motor resistor (I think its called that) is burnt and you need a new one. It is a 5 minute fix.

Where is the relay on a blower motor?

It is a five terminal relay. Normally closed allows power from the relay pack to the blower motor, but when energized it switches to allow direct battery voltage to the motor for full speed operation. And I believe, but cannot be sure, the relay may be located near the resistor pack and that might be the clicking you hear.

Why is there no power to a / C compressor?

The AC switch may light up saying the AC is on… but there still may not be a connection from there to the relay. I would take the controls out in the cab and make sure everything is plugged in and nothing is damaged.

Why is my blower motor resistor not working?

CLICK HERE TO RESET YOUR PASSWORD! Help! Fan quit working on all 4 speeds. AC light & recirc light still light up and AC compressor clutch engages when turning fan on in AC mode, but not getting the fan to work. I replaced the blower motor resistor and the control unit with new parts from rockauto (ACDelco).

Why is my GMC Sierra 2500 not working?

What are common reasons my GMC Sierra 2500 HD has air conditioning problems? While there are a variety of reasons your GMC Sierra 2500 HD air conditioning won’t work, the most common 3 are a refrigerant leak, an electrical climate control issue, or a problem with the air conditioning compressor.

Is the fan speed set or intermittent on a Silverado Sierra?

Just the blower is intermittent, not the compressor. Fan speed does not have set speeds, it’s more like a rheostat. It has the rotary control.

What happens if the blower motor only works on high speed?

In other designs, the failure of 1 resistor means you lose only one speed. However, most car makers bypass the blower motor resistor completely when you move the fan speed switch to high. If your blower only operates on its highest speed, chances are you have the series type of blower motor resistor. This is the most common failure mode.

Is there a high speed blower motor relay?

Yes there is a high speed relay which sounds like it is out. Here is a guide to help test it and the blower motor wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works with the relay location below as well. Check out the diagrams (Below).

What should I do if my GM fan won’t turn on?

Pull the negative battery cable and re-install, making sure it is very tight (also check the positive to make sure it is tight). See if this fixes the problem. Many of GM’s AC control heads have a built in reset feature that when power is removed and then applied it will go through a cycle that activates all the vent doors and mode doors.

What can I do about my 2000 GMC Sierra heater?

I have a 2000 hmm siarra . Having a problem with it it is stuck on the defrost vent and only blowing hot air . I had the a/c checked out . They said it was fine working good ,and no leeks . They said my hvac control box was bad . I changed it but still the same thing ? What can it be . 2 people found this helpful.

How does a blower work on a Chevy Silverado?

I USED A BATTERY CHARGER AND TOUCHED THE PRONGS TO THE E TERMINAL AND ALL OF THE OTHER TERMINALS. E TERMINAL IS THE GROUND AND A,B,C,D,F ARE THE BLOWER SPEEDS. THE FAN SHOULD KICK ON WHEN YOU HIT ANY OF THOSE TERMINALS WITH THE JUMPER CABLE PART OF THE BATTERY CHARGER.
