Why is the gas gauge on my Silverado not working?

Why is the gas gauge on my Silverado not working?

Fuel gauge is not reading the proper level of Diesel fuel in the tank. The fuel gauge has been erratic for the last 50000 miles. It tells me the fuel level for a short period and then goes to reading empty.

When does the fuel gauge go down to empty?

Let me start off by telling you what it was doing. First time i noticed it it stuck on full for about a week then went down to empty. After about a week of being on empty ever since it will show full right after i fill the truck up and seem somewhat accurate to 1/4 of a tank.

Where is the fuel gauge on a Chevy Silverado?

My 2000 Silverado did almost the exact same thing. Bought a new full pump assembly (because the level indicator was part of it), dropped the tank and swapped it out. Problem solved. If you look under your truck, you can see your tank.

Why is my fuel gauge not working on my Duramax?

This wasn’t my only issue and I got pissed and GM got engaged from the GM dealer that sold me the tank. Inevitably we found out from GM Engineering it was the computer trying to re-calibrate due to the mileage driven with no change in fuel level.
