However, ufotable put a lot of references in FSN: UBW that will fly over your head if you haven’t watched Fate/Zero.

So if you want to watch the Fate anime series in order you need to follow this:
- Fate/Zero (2011-2012)
- Fate/Stay Night (2006)
- Fate/Stay Night : Unlimited Blade Works (2010. 2014-2015)
- Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel (2017)
Do I need to watch fate in order?
As for the chronological order of the works, it goes as follows: Fate/Zero, Fate/stay night (including Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven’s Feel) and Fate/EXTRA. The pace and setting are completely different so I recommend that it be watched after Unlimited Blade Works and Zero.
