There is a touchpad on the exterior handle which releases the lock for the hatch with finger pressure and allows you to open it. There are no other release to open the hatch (that I know of) The switch is gone (second time in a year), I believe it gets moisture in it. The hatch won’t release.

When do I need to replace the latch on my Yukon?

Look at the bottom of the relay to identify terminals 30 and 87. Connect a jumper wire across the corresponding terminals in the panel and the liftgate will open.
