Why does my Nissan Juke make a rattling noise?
The noise is getting louder and louder, Nissan has claimed its aggressively loud. Is engine knock caused by using cheap gasoline? Click to expand… Under load, like going up a hill in too high a gear, is when some engines will most likely ping/detonate. It kind of sounds like marbles in a tin can.

I am pretty sure that my noise is just the direct injection system as it is similar to the ‘diesel’ noise right when starting the car on a cold day. DI systems can be loud, plus the Juke’s apparently can give two separate squirts of fuel (one during intake, and one right before ignition), so that’s a lot of high-pressure fuel injecting.

If that isn’t it, then while the hood is up, have someone start the car, and put it first in reverse, then in drive. If the engine jumps around when it goes into gear, then its most likely a bad motor mount. If not that, then jack the car up on both sides so that the front wheels are off the ground.
