Why is my Chevy classic block heater not working?

Recently damaged the stock GM block heater cord on my ’07 Sierra Classic. It’s my understanding that due to sensors and electronics within the engine, the plug was equipped with a thermostat to prevent the heater from working above 0 degrees F. Is there a replacement available for this cord without the thermostat plug end?

When to cut off GM block heater cord?

Cut off the cord end, put on a regular end. Any time you plug in your car IF it’s not colder than about -18, you have to start your car in the morning, then shut it off. Restart it, let it warm up however much you are used to (or no warm up at all, doesn’t matter once you’ve started and stopped it) and head down the road.

Do you need a cord for a block heater?

Any help is appreciated. The cord used to be available separately. Talked to the dealer. You definitely would not need at block heater above zero, if at all. EFI engines, free flowing oils, etc have really all but eliminated the need for block heaters (with exception for our friends in Canada and Alaska, perhaps).
