Why is the shift button not working on my Silverado 4×4?
It is not the auto system with the button,but the manual system with the 4WD shift handle on the floor. I see a linkage on the tranny case to the 4WD shifter,and the electrical actuator on the front differential.
Can a 4×4 work on a manual shift?
Doesn’t matter what type of shift it is the 4×4 system still works the same. Sometimes you need to move the truck forward/reverse a bit for the 4×4 to properly engage. Manual works the same way electronic does, it has no affect on the 4×4 engaging.
What do I need for a manual shift truck?
I would need all associated wiring, electronic buttons, the NP263 transfer case as the NP261 is otherwise identical but manual shift, and I don’t know what kind of reprogramming the computer might or might not need. I would rather climb under the truck for the next 4 years (time I anticipate ownership) than spend the couple thousand it would take.

When to shift to 4WD in a truck?

If it was 4Lo, then the problem is not in the front diff. – the diff. doesn’t have two speeds. Once you figure it out and do the repair, make sure you take it offroad and put it through the paces to make sure there was no damage. You don’t want to find out when you really need 4×4 and it’s not available.

If the blue is just a signal to shift, then no power to it, i’m going to have to get a hand switching while i’m under the truck. If a second wire should be hot, then i’m having some other problem, i.e no power to actuator.
