Can a 3rd and 4th gears work on a GMC Sierra?
3rd & 4th gears would work sometimes, other times not. You checked all the wiring, pins and plugs and all look good. You put in a used vacuum control module and that didn’t change anything.
Can a 5.3 engine be swapped for a 6.0?
I was wondering if anyone has ever done or heard of a engine swap put for the 5.3 to a 6.0. The Burb is paid for and I do not want to buy new or used but I need more power for towing and was wondering if I can do a direct swap out from the 5.3 to the 6.0. Any help would be great. Things that have to be changed? Trany, Exhaust Manafolds, Computer.

A 4l60E was available in 2500 Non-HD Vehicles as well. The 4L80E was only available in 2500/3500’s like you said. If you want a direct swap, go with the LQ9. If you want a trans that may hold up to a stock LQ9, the 4L70E will work with simple mods.

Can a 6.0 Trans be installed on a 5.3 truck?
The 6.0 can be installed, but at a big expense. New trans, exhaust pipeing between the manifold and cat would need to be replaced, new trans and motor mounts, new computer, possibly new gauge cluster if the trans speedo system wont talk to the existing gauges. This would be a big job to get everything right and smog legal.

No LQ9 ever had a 60E bolted to it. A 65E at minimum. Also, 1500 trucks recieved 4L60/65/70E transmissions, depending on engine choice certain years. A 4l60E was available in 2500 Non-HD Vehicles as well.

What causes shift problem on Silverado Sierra GMC?
