There is very little need to remove the side trays but if you need to just remove the 8mm fasteners, and they drop down. Installation is the reverse of removal. Need to buy parts for this project?
How do you remove the rear engine tray?
To remove the engine trays you will start with the rear tray, as some of its fasteners also hold the forward engine tray in place. Use an 8mm socket and remove the six fasteners (red arrows). The four forward fasteners hold the rear engine tray on top of the forward tray (red arrows, three shown).
Why do you need to replace the underbody tray?
It is important that if you remove the tray to perform work that you replace it prior to putting the car back on the road. The trays are used to protect the underbody of the car and the systems attached to it.

There is a small plastic hook on the crossbeam support that you need to be aware of. Remove the six remaining 8mm fasteners on the front tray. Then you can lower it from the vehicle. With these two trays off you have access to the systems under the engine.

Is the stupid car tray personal passenger seat?
The Stupid Car Tray solves all of those issues for me. Frankly, the only thing Stupid is is ME for not thinking of this myself!
