We have a 2017 GMC Canyon V6 with towing package. Would like opinions of experienced TravelT’ers about towing that amount of weight behind the truck.

However, it falls short of the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado that boasts a segment-leading towing figure of 5600 lbs. and payload capacity of 1400 – 1551 lbs.
Is the Duramax Canyon a 3 litter trailer?
The canyon stops a lot longer. FYI the 2019 1500 is supposed to have a 3 litter duramax. Depending on your car trailer weight, that might be a better choice. Check the tongue weight. I think the canyon is 600#.
What kind of engine does GMC Canyon have?

Can a Chevy Colorado pull a camper trailer?
Yes, Chevy Colorado or GMC canyon can pull a camper trailer but obviously there are weight limitations. The capacity depends on the model you own and the engine. When you own a 2019 Chevy Colorado model, you should have known that its 2.5 liters 4-cylinder engine produces 191 lb-ft of togue and 200 horsepower.
Can a Chevy Colorado tow a GMC Canyon?
We tow a similar weight Airstream (with WD) tows very nicely. On the high altitude steep mountain grades in Colorado we could maintain speed (55mph +) but the engine was turning 4500 rpm + which is actually OK since this DOHC motor is just fine running at high rpm.
