The SID has been in RockShox’s catalog since 1998, long enough for most of us to forget what those three letters stand for. It’s ‘Superlight Integrated Design,’ an appropriate name for suspension that’s meant to weigh as little as possible.
What is RockShox remote lockout?
New Rockshox TwistLoc remote lockout cleans up fork & shock controls. The TwistLoc uses a GripShift-style twisting barrel to pull 10mm of cable and hold it taught. This works with SRAM’s remote-compatible forks and shocks, like the new SID, to lock them out.
How does RockShox lockout work?
Lockout works by closing the valve to stop the oil running through and therefore prevents the fork from moving. If the oil has leaked out into the lowers, there’s nothing to stop the fork compressing. it could limit the travel but depending how much has leaked it might not be noticeable?
How big are the wheels on the RockShox Sid SL?
The SID SL is only available with 100mm of travel, and it’s specifically designed for 29in wheels with Boost front hubs. For those on 27.5in wheels or non-Boost hubs, you’ll have to look further down the RockShox pecking order. Just like the bigger SID and the new ZEB, the SID SL will only come in a 44mm offset.
Which is lighter Fox Sid or Sid SL?
In fact, at 1,330g the SID SL is 57g lighter than Fox’s 32 Factory Step Cast 29 fork (if we go by Fox’s claimed fork weight), which is seriously impressive. The SID SL Ultimate delivers 100mm of travel and uses its new super-light Charger Race Day damper to keep things under control.

Is there a CSU for RockShox Sid Forks?
While RockShox says it’s not ruling out creating a carbon CSU for the SID, it’s admitted it takes a lot of development time and money to create one that’ll trump what it’s achieved here in aluminium. The new crown is forged then CNC machined before being anodised to help save weight and remain pleasing to the eye.
