What temp should my Cummins run at?
At idle the truck should run 188-192. With no load but highway speeds in plus 100+ outside temps you are going to get an increase into the low 200’s and there’s really nothing to worry about.
What is normal coolant temp for a diesel?
When the diesel engine reaches the maximum effective power, the temperature of the coolant should be about 80°. When using a diesel generator in winter, it is better to ensure that the water temperature is around 80° when preparing the power transmission load.
How hot can a 5.9 Cummins run?
Registered. If it is around 195+ you are OK a diesel needs to run around 200 to get the most from your fuel.
What temp is too high for a diesel engine?
You can run up to 220°F all day long without any problems. The fluid will last a long, long time at that temperature. You can run up to 250°F for up to a half hour at a time. Above 250°F you should find a safe place to stop and idle or fast idle in park or neutral to cool the trans.
What is the best temp for a refrigerator?
Keep the refrigerator temperature at or below 40° F (4° C). The freezer temperature should be 0° F (-18° C). Check temperatures periodically. Appliance thermometers are the best way of knowing these temperatures and are generally inexpensive.
What is the max EGT for Cummins?
It is Cummins opinion that the max EGT’s, whatever they may be, of the stock motors are safe for extended intervals. There are a more things to conside than just the EGT’s. Initial injection timing, dynamic inection timing, injection event timing, valve overlap, etc, all play to what we see as a final EGT.
What should the temp be on a Cummins truck?
If you used to drive a gas vehicle and moved to the cummins, the temps will freak you out but remember it runs hotter to burn through the soot and the EGR system also doesn’t help. At idle the truck should run 188-192.
What should the coolant temp be on a 2015 Ram truck?
I have a 2015 with the Penstar and have less than 3K miles on it. I noticed that in stop and go traffic, the coolant temp will go up to 231 and the truck smells hot. Start moving again, on a cooler day, coolant will drop back to about 185.
What should coolant temp be on 2015 Penstar truck?
I have a 2015 with the Penstar and have less than 3K miles on it. I noticed that in stop and go traffic, the coolant temp will go up to 231 and the truck smells hot. Start moving again, on a cooler day, coolant will drop back to about 185. On the highway, it will run around 210-215 on a hot day.
What should the coolant temp be at idle?
On the highway, it will run around 210-215 on a hot day. My guess is that the engineers want the engine hotter at idle/slow driving because they are very “dirty” emissions wise at idle. Hotter temps reduce emissions.
