Test across for continuity. Otherwise, try each of the fixing screws for continuity to your sender plug, only those on the PCB though as the others only work the cam belt light. They cannot fail the car if the speedo does not work. It has to be illegible, obviously damaged or not illuminated.

Where is the speed sensor on a Speedo?
There are three wires attached to the back of the speedo which I assume are part of the after-market immobiliser. These wires run to a small black box and a further wire runs from this box to the loom. At the loom I found two wires had been cut, soldered together and joined to a fourth wire leading to this little black box.

Why does the speedometer needle bounce when stopped?
Sometimes the speedometer needle will “bounce” when the vehicle is stopped, indicating an issue with the ABS system rather than the speedometer itself. Your ABS controller or module may be the culprit. The controller is the easiest to test first. Sometimes water or condensation gets inside the controller and stops it from working.
Take the bike to the start of a marked 2 mile distance, turn key off. While holding down the button on the speedo, turn on the ignition switch. You should see a series of dashes on the odometer. Release the button, wait a couple seconds the press it one more time, the display should now show “O——O”.

I also had that problem with my 07 K9 last year on the return trip from nicaragua, when I got home I had to remove the speedo and disassemble it complete (taking out the chrome ring around it) and turned out to be a disconnected cable right on the base of the speedo, I had to make hole on the speedo housing in order to solder it back.
