Remove the filter. Locate to solenoid. Unplug it noting where the wires go by color. Unbolt the solenoid. Wiggle / pull out the old solenoid. Refill the trans with new ATF. The solenoid may not be bad. It could be a sticking valve. Let me say again I have never dropped the pan or replaced a solenoid on a Colorado.

Well, I found out today that my hunch was right. Its the shift solenoid between 1st and 2nd and the others were on their way out.
