Why is the back window on my VW Beetle not opening?
Rolled down back window on drivers side wont roll up just makes a noise. 2005 vw Beetle convertible, pushed the button for all windows to open at the same time and the back drivers side window would not go back up. Made a grinding sound like scratching noise on glass. It just stuck there about half way opened.

The drivers side window does not automatically drop down a half inch to allow the door to open. This window will work if you manually push the up or down button. The micro switches that sense the door open or closed position have been replaced and were working fine.

Why does my VW one touch window keep resetting?
This can be caused by a flat or disconnected engine battery or due to the motor or control unit getting confused. Tight or dry window guide rubbers can also make it lose it’s memory of the top and bottom stop positions. If it keeps happening then clean the edge of the glass and the rubbers with a silicone spray.

Both have to be replaced. Car is very well maintained but was bought used. Vw dealer covers nothing but charges an enormous amount to fix.
