Can You tow a VW Beetle with automatic transmission?
On this model if you turn the key to off but DO NOT remove it the steering wheel will not lock. If you have an automatic transmission you must us a tow dolly and keep the front wheels off the ground. Our previous VW was an Jetta TDI with automatic and we had to use a tow dolly.

Some of the other bulbs in the tail light cluster such as the brake light or turn signal may also function as the tail light in your Beetle. It is possible for the turn signal or brake light to work but the tailight part to be burnt out – replacing the bulb on your Beetle will restore functionality to both.

Can a Volkswagen Beetle be towed on a dolly?
I have a new 2015 Gold Sportwagen TDI automatic. Bought it four months before they released the information on the smog issue. I would like to tow it and have resigned myself to a car dolly. But, it has electric steering assist and the owners manual says you have to leave the ignition on while towing.

Is the VW Beetle a 4 wheel drive vehicle?
yes, it is a 2004, Manual (standard) shift, front wheel drive Bug convertible. The Manual doesn’t speak to being towed at all. Thanks again for any assistance. Location:Burnet, TX. Peter.
