How do you fix a sticking motorcycle clutch?

How do you fix a sticking motorcycle clutch?

It is very common for a clutch to stick first thing in the morning and cause the bike to stall when you put it in gear. You can alleviate this problem by pulling in the clutch a dozen times or so while the bike is warming up to get oil moving through plates. Often the problem is caused by an aftermarket clutch lever.

What should I do if my clutch lever wont return?

Disconnect the clutch cable at both ends and pull it back and forth from either end using your fingers. It should be obvious if it moves freely or not. If not, use something like DuPont Teflon Multi-Purpose Spray to lubricate it until it moves freely again. You can also tell if the clutch lever moves freely or not.

How to find out if clutch cable is the issue?

It is very easy to find out if the clutch cable is the issue, or the clutch lever at the bar as well. Disconnect the clutch cable at both ends and pull it back and forth from either end using your fingers. It should be obvious if it moves freely or not.

Why is the clutch on my bike not shifting?

The clutch may be stuck. It also sounds like the return spring on the clutch arm is broke or the cable is very dry/dirty/worn or the lever would return even with a stuck clutch. Someone gave me a bike that they thought had transmission problems because it would’nt shift out of first.

What’s the problem with the throttle on a Yamaha?

Click to expand… Is it a real choke, a plate over the intake that closes, or an enrichment valve? It’s probably the latter, which will give you a richer mixture from idle to a slight distance into the throttle, but stop contributing much after about 1/4 throttle is reached.
