Looking at Softail speedometer images shows cruise indicator to the Right of speedo neetle @ 0-mph…just a thought. I wish I had cruise control! Look in your owners manual and be a bit more specific as to which light it is that you speak of.

If the security light (the key) stays on solid (not flashing) and the bike starts and runs, it means the bike has thrown a DTC. (diagnostic trouble code) It is essentially the equivalent of the “check engine” light on a car. The procedure for checking the code is posted in the electrical section.
