Something is drawing power from the battery causing it to be dead. After recharging the battery, the check engine codes read that there is a problem with �brake light illumination. � help in determining wha t is causing the battery to die on such a new vehicle would greatly appreciated!

How to drain a battery on a GMC Truck?
With key off, unhook your positive battery terminal. Put one multimeter lead on the battery terminal and the other on the positive cable. You’re basically making the multimeter part of the circuit. Set the meter to read amps. Now, since its being drained I assume you’ll see some kind of amperage draw.

Let it sit overnight and the battery’s too dead to start the truck. Put the OEM battery back in and charged it last night. Dash voltmeter read 13v with the engine off (and the charger disconnected). Got up early this morning and it was back down to a little over 9v. Fast-charged it while showering and it started up OK.

When did my Silverado battery cluster go out?
Best of luck. The cluster went out at 35,000 miles and got the warranty/recall NEW cluster – now at 105,000 last month the cluster went dead for two vehicle trips then came back to life. I was happy about that but probably not back correctly.
