When did valve cover gasket change on Subaru Outback?

When did valve cover gasket change on Subaru Outback?

Apparently there is no longer a grommet for the bolts (parts guy said there was a design change back in 2005; that’s what happens when the last one I touched was a 2003!). Due to my short timeline, I’ll be picking up these parts at the dealer.

How much does it cost to replace a valve cover on a Subaru?

They quoted me $15ea per valve cover and $3ea per tube seal. Apparently there is no longer a grommet for the bolts (parts guy said there was a design change back in 2005; that’s what happens when the last one I touched was a 2003!).

When to replace valve cover in 2014 2.5?

2014 2.5 that has a leaking valve cover (it’s been leaking for quite a while) and I’d like to prepare for replacing both once the weather warms up. I’d like to stick with OEM gaskets, unless someone has a reason not to (they lasted 100k).

Is the bottom of the valve cover dry?

The entire bottom of the valve cover is dry except for that back corner. When moving, the airflow isn’t helping any…the oil seems to be wicked around the back side of the head.

Where is the pressure switch on a Subaru Outback?

I spoke with a long time Subaru mechanic (and frankly a fanatic) and he was positive the leak was a VVT oil pressure switch, presumably towards the rear of the passenger side head, but I can’t find it (seeing it or feeling for it). I’m starting to think this was something on previous years and not mine.
