Where are the wires on a GMC brake controller?
You will find a bundle of wires below the dash to the left of the brake pedal. The wires should be taped up and tucked up and out of the way. There should also be a label on the tape of the functions of each wire.You will want to connect these wires to the wires coming out of the back of the brake controller (see FAQ).

Can a Hopkins brake controller be used on a GMC?
If you do not have wires running out of the brake controller, and you have a Hopkins brake controller you can use the Hopkins # HM47795 Adapter. How does the brake controller work on a GMC Truck?
The red wire on the truck will connect to the black (12V power) wire on the brake controller. The dark blue truck wire will go to the blue (brake output) wire on the controller. The light blue wire goes to the red wire (brake input) on the controller and the white wire goes to the corresponding white wire (ground).

Can a Factory Brake Controller be retro fitted?
Anyone have nice clean installs of a brake controller if retro-fitting the factory controller is out of the question.. i would recommend buying aftermarket. much cheaper and you can still achieve your clean look.
