Why does my Silverado make a grinding noise?
Suggested the carrier bearing. As the noise really seams it is aft of the transmission. After pulling driveshaft im not sure it is. All seams quiet and tight. Same for u joints. I can feel a little slack in pinon but no more than normal. no vibration or loss of power during acceleration with noise presant.

Re: Loud grinding noise under acceleration. .. Kinda sounds like a Sprague or a drum in the tranny. May not hurt to have them guys hear it. Had that happen in my ’91 1500 2wd. but that was from shock load from spinning. Noise was like a really angry ratchet when the truck was rolling.

Why does my GM Truck make a noise when I accelerate?
Crawl underneath and try to turn the driveshaft. It should turn all the way around with minimal effort. If it will not, again, most likely bad U-joint. Rear end noise travels to the front. I changed my wheel bearings because I thought they were the problem.
