I checked out the two vacuum lines coming from behind the firewall and there is a lack of vacuum. The black line splits off and connects to the control knob selector. I sucked on the black line and the a/c air changed over to the front vents when I applied a vacuum on the line. When I let it go, it went right back to defrost.
