How many gallons of Def does a Denali Duramax use?
It used over 12 gallons of DEF in the last 2400 miles. 2200 of the miles were towing a boat (~10,000 lbs). I also am not getting any warnings. It goes from “OK” to speed will be reduced to 65 in x miles. I had to put 2.5 gallons in every 400 miles not he return trip home. Also no leaks in the system and no drop in power or performance.

All DEF is the same, actually it is very tightly controlled. Best place for DEF prices is to buy it at a pump where the trucks by there’s. Buy in bottles and the price skyrockets. As for plugging in a lot depends on which oil you run, 5w-40 T6 is a lot more forgiving that 15w-40.

How much Def fluid should I use per gallon of diesel?
You should use 1.25 – 1.5 gallons of def per gallon of diesel. if it gets 20 and only uses 1.25 def per 100, then 2000 miles/1.25gal def = 1600. Between 1200 and 1500 mpg seems to be the most commonly reported range for the LML. Since def usage is a chemical balance, the L5P usage should be similar.
