What does HLTAID002 cover?
The HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support some time referred to as BELS , this course covers the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
What is the difference between HLTAID002 and HLTAID003?
HLTAID003 Provide first aid. HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support. HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
How long is basic life support?
BLS cards are valid for two years from the date on your certificate. If your American Red Cross BLS certification is about to expire (or has expired and you’re within 30 days of its expiration), you can enroll in an abbreviated BLS course (a review course) and get recertified for two more years.
How long does HLTAID002 last?

Course details Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive a statement of attainment HLTAID002 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support (First Aid Level 1). This unit is Nationally accredited and is valid for three years and includes HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Is HLTAID002 included in HLTAID003?
Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) HLTAID001 and Provide Basic Emergency Life Support HLTAID002 are included in the Provide First Aid HLTAID003 training course.
Is HLTAID003 still current?
Latest course changes for 2020: If you complete HLTAID003 in 2020, it will remain fully recognised and valid for a full 3 years.

The online training and assessment can be completed at your own pace in the comfort of your own home, office or wherever you are located.
What are the steps of basic life support?
Check that the area is safe, then perform the following basic CPR steps:
- Call 911 or ask someone else to.
- Lay the person on their back and open their airway.
- Check for breathing.
- Perform 30 chest compressions.
- Perform two rescue breaths.
- Repeat until an ambulance or automated external defibrillator (AED) arrives.
Is HLTAID001 still valid?
If you complete HLTAID001 in 2020, it will still remain fully recognised and valid for a full 12 months.
What is HLTAID006?
First Aid Training Group’s Provide Advanced First Aid course (HLTAID006) is part of the fully accredited first aid training that gives you the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond in an emergency situation. The course comprises pre-course learning and practical training plus face-to-face training.
